The present Galet Traveller, however, is something of an exception. Created in 2014 as part of an exclusive series of just eight pieces for the American market, its spectacular cloisonné enamel dial brings an unusually expressive character to one of the manufacture's most elegant designs. An exceptionally demanding decorative technique, cloisonné involves arranging fine gold wires to define individual sections of a design, which are then filled with enamel and repeatedly fired to achieve their rich colours and remarkable depth. The result is a miniature work of art that stands in beautiful contrast to Laurent Ferrier's typically understated aesthetic. Crafted in white gold, the Galet Traveller combines this extraordinary dial with one of the most intuitive travel-time complications in modern watchmaking. Discreet pushers integrated into the caseband allow the local hour to be adjusted forwards or backwards in one-hour increments, while the date follows the local time. Beneath the dial lies the automatic calibre LF230.01, featuring Laurent Ferrier's celebrated micro-rotor winding system and natural escapement with two escape wheels. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement is equally impressive, with beautifully shaped bridges, polished bevels and the meticulous finishing for which the manufacture is renowned. Numbered 3 of just 8 examples, the present Galet Traveller is accompanied by its original presentation box and certificate of authenticity. Combining the traditional artistry of cloisonné enamelling with the technical sophistication of Laurent Ferrier, it represents a particularly captivating interpretation of a model otherwise celebrated for its discretion
