Moser & Cie's irreverent sense of humour quite as successfully as its 2021 partnership with French artist seconde/seconde/. Known for transforming familiar watches through playful, often unexpected interventions, the artist brought his distinctive approach to Moser's minimalist Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept, replacing the conventional hour hand with a pixelated eraser. The joke is as simple as it is clever: the eraser appears to have rubbed away the dial's indices and branding, leaving behind the beautifully understated fumé surface for which Moser is celebrated. The contrast between the deliberately pixelated hand and the otherwise classical design is what makes the watch so appealing. Housed in a stainless steel case, the dial retains the remarkable depth and shifting tones characteristic of Moser's fumé finishing, while the absence of conventional markings allows the artist's intervention to take centre stage. Beneath this playful exterior lies the automatic HMC 200 calibre, an entirely serious piece of Swiss watchmaking featuring a three-day power reserve and beautifully finished movement components visible through the sapphire caseback. Produced in a limited edition of just 20 pieces, the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept x seconde/seconde/ is among the more memorable collaborations in recent independent watchmaking. Dating to 2021 and accompanied by its original presentation box and warranty card, the present example brings together Moser's exceptional craftsmanship and seconde/seconde/'s wonderfully subversive humour, proving that fine watchmaking need not always take itself too seriously.
