What You Should Know: Prototype No. 00 of Franck Muller’s double-sided chronograph, the present watch offers a fascinating glimpse into the early development of one of the watchmaker’s most celebrated creations. Inspired by the Patek Philippe ref. 1463 “Tasti Tondi”, Muller reinterpreted the traditional chronograph by placing an oversized one-minute register on the reverse of the watch, complete with pulsometer, tachymeter and telemeter scales. The front retains a classical guilloché chronograph dial, while the reverse dramatically enlarges the elapsed-time display, powered by a manually wound Lemania 1872/1873. Cased in platinum, the No. 00 prototype predates the small series of approximately 40–50 examples commissioned by an Italian retailer, making it a particularly significant piece from the formative years of Muller’s eponymous manufacture.
