First of all, a heartfelt thank you to the collectors who have entrusted these watches to us, and who have chosen Marteau as the venue for their sale. We know that parting with a watch can be just as personal as acquiring one, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us to find collectors who will appreciate these pieces as much as you have. The Encore is our largest auction yet, bringing together 40 watches from some of the most fascinating names in independent watchmaking. At its center is an exceptionally rare complete "Coffret Set" of five limited edition F.P. Journe Stainless Steel 38mm watches, which is brought to the market for the first time. This is not the first time I have been entrusted with a complete set, but they are becoming increasingly rare and it is an honor to have another opportunity. The real pleasure in curating a catalog is in exploring everything the independent niche has to offer: from early works, unusual configurations, one-of-a-kind creations and watches from a new generation of independent makers. We have had an enormous amount of fun putting this sale together. It has given us the chance to spend time with watches by familiar names, while introducing Marteau collectors to makers appearing here for the first time, including Marco Lang, Sylvain Pinaud, Yosuke Sekiguchi, Ondřej Berkus and Reuben Schoots. We hope you enjoy discovering The Encore as much as we have enjoyed curating it. There are plenty of watches here that deserve a closer look and, perhaps, a new chapter in the story of their ownership. Welcome to The Encore, - Arthur Touchot
