What You Should Know: An early example of Ludovic Ballouard’s Half Time, the present watch is numbered 6 and showcases the unconventional approach to time-telling that has defined his work as an independent watchmaker. Two rotating discs each carry half of a Roman numeral, jumping in opposite directions every hour to reveal the correct hour at 12 o’clock, while a single retrograde hand displays the minutes below. The movement was conceived, developed and assembled by Ballouard from over 300 components, with much of its mechanism left visible through the caseback. Cased in platinum and finished with hand-engraved details throughout, No. 6 is a particularly early example of Ballouard’s most mechanically ambitious creation.
