Lot Details

What you should know: The Krayon Anyday offers a remarkably original perspective on one of watchmaking's most familiar complications: the calendar. Conceived by Rémi Maillat, the watch goes beyond simply displaying today's date, presenting an entire month at a glance, much like a traditional paper planner. The result is a complication that feels both wonderfully intuitive and mechanically extraordinary, reflecting Krayon's distinctive approach to interpreting the passage of time. Crafted in 18k white gold, the present version features a beautiful blue dial, with an intricate arrangement of indications allowing the wearer to follow the days and dates across five weeks. The calendar automatically accounts for the varying lengths of the months, requiring no regular manual correction. Behind this seemingly effortless display lies an exceptionally sophisticated manually wound movement comprising 378 components, housed within an elegant case measuring just 9.5mm thick. The contrast between the complexity of the mechanism and the clarity of its presentation is perhaps the watch's greatest achievement. With its refined proportions, captivating blue dial and genuinely innovative complication, the Anyday demonstrates Krayon's ability to rethink traditional watchmaking in a way that is both technically ambitious and immediately relevant to everyday life. It is a particularly appealing creation from one of the most inventive names in contemporary independent horology. In their own words: "Krayon movements are built on an integrated architecture. The complication is not a module added on top of a base movement; it is part of the movement itself. This makes every calibre far more demanding to develop, and every one requires extensive testing. For each new calibre, the first movements are numbered from 0 to 30, then it will be 3 letters + numbers. These pieces are dedicated to testing, so our watchmakers can work on them freely and push them hard, without worrying about a scratch or a mark. Because of the intensity of this process, more than half of these first movements are discarded and never reach the market. The Anyday offered here carries movement number 6. It survived this process and was among the very first Anyday pieces we delivered." - Remi Maillat
