Lot Details

What You Should Know: There is something particularly appealing about the uncompromising approach to traditional watchmaking practised by Lang & Heyne. Founded in Dresden by Marco Lang and Mirko Heyne, the manufacture has built its reputation on exceptional hand-finishing, distinctive movement architecture and a deep appreciation for the traditions of Saxon horology. The Georg is among its most elegant creations, departing from the brand's predominantly round cases in favour of a beautifully proportioned rectangular design inspired by classical watchmaking. Crafted in white gold, the present example houses the manually wound calibre LH VIII, an extraordinary movement developed specifically for the Georg's unusual case shape. Its architecture is a particular highlight, with beautifully sculpted bridges, polished steel components and meticulous hand-finishing visible through the sapphire caseback. The movement also incorporates a sophisticated stop-seconds mechanism, allowing the watch to be set with precision. The contrast between the restrained elegance of the dial and the remarkable mechanical craftsmanship beneath it is central to the Georg's appeal. Dating to 2021 and numbered 26, the present watch is offered as a complete set, accompanied by its original Lang & Heyne presentation box and certificate of authenticity, personally signed by Marco Lang. This is a particularly charming detail, providing a direct connection to one of the founding figures of the manufacture. Combining an uncommon platinum case, exceptional traditional craftsmanship and the added appeal of its signed documentation, this Georg is a beautiful expression of the qualities that have made Lang & Heyne so highly regarded among collectors of independent watchmaking.
