*Please note : This lot is sold with no reserve One of just five working prototype models of Baltic’s now-iconic Aquascaphe Dual-Crown, the present example was originally built to be tested in the harshest diving conditions. It endures as a rare document of the brand’s formative years and a testament to what Baltic was capable of achieving at the time. In Their Own Words: "The Baltic Aquascaphe Dual-Crown is our first compressor-type case dive watch, released in Q2 2020. It’s a 200m dive watch inspired by the dual-crown designs of the 1970s, featuring a second crown used to control the internal bezel. This piece showcases a sleek, minimalist dial design that continues the aesthetic of the Aquascaphe Titanium collection, utilizing BGW9 white indexes known for their strong luminescence. At Baltic, we mark all our prototype pieces during the development phase of a new watch. In the same way, we also mark pre-production pieces that may be used for a release. The Aquascaphe Dual-Crown was an extension of the Aquascaphe range, which has been our most important line since the brand’s creation in 2017. This particular piece is one of the original 2020 prototypes that we used during the filming of a project shot in Northern Canada. The film was captured underwater in extreme conditions—sub-5°C frozen waters. These conditions were ideal for demonstrating the capabilities of the new Aquascaphe at the time. Five members of the crew were given these pre-production prototypes as a token of appreciation for their outstanding work. The film was produced under tough conditions, during the pandemic, at a time when achieving anything was a challenge—but we made it happen. It remains one of the projects we’re most proud of.
