This limited-edition Urban Jürgensen Big 8, crafted in stainless steel exclusively for the Japanese market, was produced in just 20 pieces. While its grené dial and teardrop lugs nod to classical watchmaking, the modern steel execution gives it a contemporary edge—making it a particularly intriguing reference. In Their Own Words: “This isn’t a watch you see very often. Produced in 2020 as a limited edition for the Japanese market, this Big 8 was made in just 20 examples, which sold out right away. They rarely come up for sale, which – unless you’re lucky enough to spot one on someone’s wrist – is the only way you’ll encounter one. The watch’s name comes from the fact that it’s a Reference 8 with a 40mm stainless steel case. The watch features many signature Urban Jürgensen touches: the teardrop lugs on the case, Observatory-style hands, and, most strikingly, a silver dial with a hand-applied grenage finish. These finely grained dialed have long been a UJ speciality, including on some truly incredible tourbillon pocket watches, but they’re rarely seen on wristwatches.
