Lot Details

The Centigraphe Souverain holds a distinctive place within François-Paul Journe’s collection, offering an inventive and considered interpretation of the chronograph. Introduced in 2007, it was designed to record elapsed intervals ranging from one hundredth of a second to ten minutes. Its three registers each operate at their own rhythm, with the first completing a full rotation in just ten seconds — a display that is both functional and visually striking. At the heart of the watch is the manual-winding calibre 1506, a movement defined by its original and practical construction. A patented mechanism isolates the chronograph from the going train, ensuring that the timing functions operate independently without affecting the balance amplitude or stability of the timekeeping. The present example pairs a 40 mm pink gold case with a grey dial, a combination that highlights both the warmth of the metal and the subtle contrast of the overlapping sub-dials. Red chronograph hands provide excellent legibility while introducing a discreet touch of color to an otherwise restrained palette. The proportions are carefully considered, giving the watch presence on the wrist while remaining slim and comfortable — characteristics that are central to the Souverain line. Over the years, the Centigraphe Souverain has become a defining model within the F.P. Journe catalogue, admired by collectors for its distinctive display and technical ingenuity. This version, in pink gold with a grey dial, represents one of the most refined expressions of the design.
