Founded by collector Phil Toledano and designer Alfred Chan, the brand draws inspiration from Brutalist architecture, translating its bold geometry and sculptural forms into watches that feel more like miniature pieces of architecture than conventional timepieces. The B/1.2 builds on the success of their original B/1, retaining its striking angular case and integrated bracelet while introducing an entirely different character through its remarkable Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial. The dial is undoubtedly the star of the show. Unlike traditional white mother-of-pearl, Tahitian mother-of-pearl displays a fascinating spectrum of darker, iridescent tones, shifting between grey, green, blue and purple depending on the light. Its organic, almost fluid appearance provides a beautiful contrast to the sharply defined surfaces of the stainless steel case, creating an interplay between natural material and industrial design. The watch's asymmetrical architecture and integrated bracelet further reinforce its sculptural character, while the automatic Sellita SW100 movement provides a reliable mechanical foundation. Dating to 2025 and accompanied by its original presentation box and certificate of authenticity, the present B/1.2 captures what makes Toledano & Chan's approach so refreshing. Combining a genuinely unconventional case design with the natural beauty of Tahitian mother-of-pearl, it offers a compelling alternative to traditional watchmaking aesthetics.
