What You Should Know: Created to celebrate Kurono Tokyo’s second anniversary, the Toki takes Hajime Asaoka’s Art Deco-inspired design language and gives it an unusually expressive dial. Its coral-vermillion sunburst finish was developed to evoke the feathers of the Japanese crested ibis, or Toki, shifting between pink, red, orange and even purple depending on the light. At 37mm, its polished steel case, box-shaped sapphire crystal and concentric dial rings give it the proportions and visual character of a vintage dress watch, while the distinctive colour makes the Toki one of Kurono’s most recognisable creations.
