What You Should Know: Few watches capture the spirit of early independent watchmaking quite like Daniel Roth's Monopusher Chronograph. Introduced around 1990, shortly after Roth established his eponymous brand, the model brings together his unmistakable design language with one of the most elegant chronograph mechanisms ever conceived. While most examples were produced in yellow or rose gold, the present watch is cased in considerably rarer platinum, making it a particularly desirable expression of this important early creation. The distinctive double-ellipse case houses the manually wound Lemania 2220 calibre, a beautifully constructed column-wheel chronograph movement operated through a single pusher integrated into the crown. Particularly appealing is the presence of a sapphire display caseback, allowing the movement's intricate architecture and finishing to be admired, a feature that adds considerably to the enjoyment of such a mechanically interesting watch. The present example is further distinguished by its exceptionally early serial number 8, a number traditionally associated with good fortune and prosperity. Preserved in superb condition, with its distinctive case architecture and dial retaining their original character, this first generation platinum Monopusher Chronograph offers a rare opportunity to acquire an early example of Daniel Roth's independent work.
