Lot Details

A custom-order execution of the De Bethune DB29 Maxichrono Tourbillon, created for a client in 2017. The Maxichrono represents the brand’s highly technical interpretation of the chronograph, distinguished by its central chronograph display and patented multi-clutch system allowing several elapsed times to be read simultaneously. For this commission, the client requested a special dial featuring a central disc rendered in De Bethune’s signature “Milky Way” flame-blued finish. The yellow gold hunter case back conceals the tourbillon, adding a discreet and traditional note to an otherwise highly contemporary construction. Altogether, the combination of materials and design choices gives this piece a very unique character, as it is one of the very few De Bethune watches to openly embrace a distinctly 20th-century aesthetic.
